Climate change, dams and disease: the effect of temperature-dependent myxozoan parasite T. bryosalmonae on brown trout


Project aims

  1. Determine the distribution and prevalence of Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae in Sweden
  2. Quantify combined impact of Proliferative Kidney Disease (PKD) and increasing water temperature on brown trout recruitment using long - term national fish monitoring data
  3. Evaluate the role of dams as barriers to Tb spread and/or catalysts for PKD severity
  4. Apply and evaluate eDNA approaches to better understand Tb infectivity, distribution, and life - cycle.
